Agistri island is the smallest of the Saronic islands. It is only 1 hour from Piraeus, the main port of Athens, and only 10 minutes from the neighbouring island of Aegina. There are regular boat connections, almost hourly during the summer months.
The combination of the dark green of the beautiful dense pine forest and the different shades of the turquoise clear blue sea are magical. The island’s name means ‘hook’ in English, and you will be sure to be hooked by Agistri! It is the ideal holiday island for anyone who is looking for a relaxed Greek island holiday. There are various restaurants, cafeterias and shops, while Agistri’s nightlife is really hip in the summer months. Agistri is one of the few Greek islands that are still Greek and unspoilt!
From the Athens airport to the Piraeus port.
By bus – The closest airport to Agistri is Athens International: ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’. On leaving the arrivals hall, you will find bus X96 outside, which takes you straight to the Port of Piraeus. The buses leave every 15/ 20 minutes during the day and about every 30 minutes at night. The bus stops several times on the way, the Piraeus harbour is about the last stop. The price of a ticket is € 5.00, and the average travelling time from the airport to the port is 90 minutes. Once you have purchased your ticket you must ‘cancel’it on the small orange machine within the bus.
By taxi – You can also take a yellow taxi to the port. The travel time can be less than the travel time by bus, depending on the amount of traffic. A taxi will cost around 45 euros.
